The mission of the Institute of Cristal is to provide and share science and technology through the relationship between education and research. We aim to prepare and assist in the development of human resources, which are essential and strategic factors in Timor-Leste’s sustainability.
We engage in specific activities to enhance the learning process, including:

- Professional training in science and technology based on international standards.
- Assisting trainees in obtaining quality qualifications and professions.
Objectives
The objectives of the Department of Mathematics are to:
- Have extensive knowledge in mathematics, both theory and practice.
- Produce professional teachers proficient in teaching skills and using mathematics laboratory tools.
- Develop teaching modules for the mathematics learning process.
- Master curricular content and manage educational learning effectively while developing professional skills.
- Create graduates who can develop basic mathematical concepts using simple formulas.

Our curriculum is structured over eight semesters, ensuring a comprehensive education in mathematics:
Semester Breakdown
- Semester I: Portuguese Language I, Tetun Language I, Religion, RDTL Constitution and Citizenship, General Biology, Basic Mathematics, Geometry.
- Semester II: Portuguese Language II, Tetun Language II, English II, Don Bosco’s Preventive System, Guidance and Counseling, Basic Chemistry, Basic Physics, History of Mathematics.
- Semester III: Sociology of Education, Introduction to Pedagogy, Algebra, Computational Mathematics, Numerical Calculus, Mathematical Logic, Introduction to Arithmetic and Algebra.
- Semester IV: Teaching Strategy, Basic Statistics, School Management and Administration, Trigonometry, Teaching Evaluation, Combinatorial Calculus, Educational Psychology.
- Semester V: Plane and Space Analytic Geometry, Vector Calculus, Linear Program, Linear Algebra, Transformative Geometry, Financial Mathematics.
- Semester VI: Business Education, Curriculum Studies, Computer Technology and Communication, Mathematics Statistics, Differential Equations, Differential and Integral Calculus.
- Semester VII: Teaching Micro, Seminar, Research Methodology, Mathematics Laboratory, Topology, Free Choice.
- Semester VIII: Pedagogical Internship, Monograph.
