Dili, October 27, 2025 – Instituto Superior Cristal (ISC) successfully held an International Seminar titled "Developing Clinical Teaching Expertise: Enhancing Faculty Skills in Supervising and Assessing Students in the Clinical Setting." The event was a resounding success, attended by various stakeholders in the field of education.
The seminar was opened by the Executive President of the Cristal Foundation, Prof. Dr. Agostinho dos Santos Gonçalves, MM, and the Magnificent Rector of Instituto Superior Cristal, Prof. Dr. Sebastião Pereira, MM. The presence of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Culture of RDTL, represented by the Inspector General of MESSK, Dr. Domingos Barros, added significant meaning to the occasion.
In his speech, Dr. Barros emphasized the critical importance of the seminar for the development of faculty capacity, particularly in strengthening their abilities to teach and evaluate in clinical settings. He expressed hope that ISC would continue to pursue such initiatives to enhance the quality of education in the health sector.
The seminar received support from the Public Subsidy for 2025 from MESSK and was attended by health faculty members from various institutions, including the National University of Timor Lorosa'e (UNTL), the Oriental University of Timor Lorosa'e (UNITAL), Dili University (UNDIL), the Catholic University of Timor (UCT), Peace University (UNPAZ), and the Institute of Health Sciences (ICS).
The event also featured prominent speakers in the health field, including:
- Dr. Norfadzilah Binti Ahmad from the International Islamic University Malaysia
- Prof. Dr. Esti Yunitasari S.Kp., M.Kes. from Airlangga University, Indonesia
- dr. Mateus Pinheiro MMed InterMed from UNTL & HNGV Timor-Leste,
- Dr. Lidia Gomes S.KM. M.PH from the Faculty of Medicine at UNTL.
With this seminar, it is hoped that faculty members can enhance their competencies and knowledge in clinical areas, thereby providing quality education to students.
In closing, Prof. Dr. Sebastião Pereira expressed gratitude to MESSK for its financial support, which made this seminar possible. He emphasized that this event is a vital step toward improving the capacity of health faculty.
The seminar concluded with a closing session involving all speakers and participants, marking the success of the event in promoting collaboration and enhancing the quality of education in Timor-Leste.
